Wednesday, August 1

Evolved ELA
Evolve your ELA curriculum and create a community of readers that inspire others through their enthusiasm for sharing books. Ditch those reading logs, dioramas, and comprehension quizzes that are commonplace methods of accountability in standard classrooms and have your students telling each other in the hallways that "Class was so Lit!". Reading is a social activity! Learn some classroom tested strategies that tap into your students interests, their need for social interaction, and that are just plain fun and get your students to be lovers of lit'.

Inquiry in Under an Hour: Using the QFT to Ignite Inquiry in the Classroom
The Question Formulation Technique is a great tool to get started with inquiry for both teachers and students. The QFT is the perfect start to get students thinking critically and asking questions. And the best part...it can be done in one period! We'll do the QFT and go over digital tools that can enhance it and make it more efficient. Participants will then build their own QFT that they can use right away.

INSTA-TASTIC: Instagram, Explained, and more!
"Visuals are quickly becoming the most efficient way to get your message out there. Not only is this reflected in society and culture, but also in teaching and learning, with the use and understanding of visual media being a part of the Common Core standards.

In the hyper-scrolling, double-tapping world of Instagram, creating attractive visuals is a challenge. Come to this session, and wear your walking shoes! We'll be scouting the neighborhood and taking pictures to tell the story of our day. Afterward, we'll work on cropping, filters, and editing tools. We'll also dip into Instagram Stories and Highlights!"
